Dear friends:

On behalf of the World Parkinson Coalition® Steering Committee, Program Committee, staff and the many other Committee members and dedicated volunteers who are working on the 5th World Parkinson Congress, we invite you to join us in Kyoto, Japan for four days of learning about Parkinson’s and to be a part of what is shaping up to be an amazing WPC 2019. This is the first time the WPC is being held in Asia, and we are excited to offer this experience to our friends and colleagues in this part of the world. It will be an incredible experience, hosting the WPC in a city that has been dubbed one of “the best cities in the world” by many travelers.

The program, being designed under the leadership of our colleagues, Dr. Roger Barker, Dr. Etienne Hirsch, and Dr. Anne-Louise Lafontaine will offer some of the most exciting talks on cutting edge basic and clinical research taking place in 2019. Through a variety of session formats and sizes, the program will highlight new research, models of care, and collaborations that are changing the lives of those living with Parkinson’s today. Our program co-chairs have great knowledge of Parkinson’s, strong connections to researchers and their local communities, and understand advocacy efforts on matters that are important to people living with Parkinson’s. In other words, they will design a program for YOU.

If you are researching Parkinson’s, living with Parkinson’s or providing care to people with Parkinson’s, please consider attending this meeting. Starting with the pre-congress courses on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 all the way through the three main days of the program, and the closing remarks on June 7, 2019, you will find a session that interests you. Sessions will include high-level cutting-edge science, scientific content, and crosstalk presentations targeting a mixed and lay audience. Some sessions will be in large ballrooms, others in smaller rooms for more intimate talks and even smaller yet, you’ll find the return of our very popular, and expanded number of Roundtable talks with just 12 people sharing and learning about specific topics, either scientific or patient-centered, with an expert.

Join us, and be updated on the most important aspects of Parkinson’s care and research in a unique forum, which brings together the entire Parkinson’s community. We encourage anyone researching Parkinson, caring for people with Parkinson, or living with the disease, to meet us at the WPC 2019.

See you in Kyoto, Japan on Tuesday, June 4, 2019!

Kindest regards,

 A. Jon Stoessl, C.M., M.D., FRCPC
